Activities
Our middle schools offer a wide range of activities and clubs that allow students to explore their interests, build connections, and get involved. From athletics to academic teams, creative arts to leadership opportunities—there’s something for every student to enjoy.
Cheerleading
Participants must audition to make the team. Tryouts are held in March. Cheerleading class emphasizes cheerleading skills and technique, conditioning, leadership, and squad unity. Grades and citizenship must be in compliance with the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

Dance Team
Dance Team is a performance-based group that requires an audition for participation. Tryouts are typically held in March. Students in this class will choreograph and learn routines, perform at school and community events, and participate in additional rehearsals outside of class time.

KAY Club
KAY Club or Kansas Association for Youth is a leadership service-based organization. In this club, students participate in community and worldwide service projects.
We meet from 7:40-8:10 a.m. in Room 107 on the following dates:

MATHCOUNTS
MATHCOUNTS is a competitive math program that challenges students through problem-solving and teamwork. Members prepare for and participate in local and regional competitions held throughout the school year.

Congratulations to the following 2026-27 leaders. Students were chosen based on grades, interview questions and teacher recommendations. Our 2026-27 leaders should join our Google classroom (code is zktug3qm) so they can receive important information. We will meet from 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27 for training at PRT. Pep Club

Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad gives you an exciting opportunity to compete against students from all across the state, in 23 different events that range from taking tests and completing labs, which show off your knowledge of sciences, to building robots and making ball launchers using engineering techniques.

Theater
PRT Theater produces two after-school productions a year, one in the fall and one in the spring. All students can audition. Rehearsals are after school in the auditorium. Students can work on the stage or behind the scenes. The school plays and musicals are a great opportunity for students to learn more about theatre, make friends, and gain confidence.

Wrestling
Wrestling practices are held after school from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The wrestlers jog over to Olathe Northwest High School and use their wrestling equipment. Wrestling occurs during second quarter.

Yearbook
This course exposes students to increased communications, media, and introductory journalism skills, including producing the school yearbook. Students must be selected to enroll in this course through an application process.
The Prairie Trail yearbook is a student-run publication. Staff members are selected through an application process during the spring for the following school year.
